Since 1998, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center has been a home to the LGBT population of metro Milwaukee, providing culturally sensitive and competent educational, social, and health and wellness services that meet the needs of LGBT youth, adults and their allies. In 2009 alone, the Center, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, served approximately 8,000 individuals (a 33% increase from the previous year), housed six other LGBT organizations, and served as a meeting place for nine additional organizations.
RACC (Rainbow Arts and Cultural Connection) will be holding our second TGIF Party on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 5pm. Location TBA. Keep updated on RACC events by joining our FACEBOOK Group. RACC is a socializing and networking group offering a variety of art, music, theater, sports and other cultural activities and experiences to the Milwaukee LGBT community at large. Stop Smoking Seminar-Quit Group 9/2/2010
The Stop Smoking Seminar provides a safe space to learn how to be successful stopping smoking for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adults in Wisconsin. It also assists people to set up a personal program to stop smoking and get the support the person needs to stop successfully. This program will be offered at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center beginning August 19th and contining through September 30th, meeting 6-8 pm every Thursday at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. There will be two group facilitators to greet people and guide you through the curriculum. Members of the group will share experiences, offer support and create a strong support system. At the third meeting, everyone will make the commitment to stop smoking. The next 4 meetings and multiple phone calls in between are designed to help you through withdrawal. Women’s Voices Milwaukee (WVM) provides a welcoming place for women to unite in the joy of singing, while striving for excellence in an atmosphere of mutual support and respect. They sing to entertain, inspire and heal through the power of choral music. WVM sings to celebrate, empower and to build bridges of understanding throughout our communities, including but not limited to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans-gendered women. WVM performs at least two concerts per year and rehearses on Tuesday nights in the Community Room of the Center beginning at 7:00 P.M., from late August to mid-June. They are always looking for more singers and welcome interested persons to visit them during rehearsals. A new initiative involves performances at extended care facilities in the Milwaukee area, “bringing music to those who can't come to us.”
GEMINI GENDER This Milwaukee-based male-to-female transgender group meets at the Center on the second Saturday of the month at 6:00 to 10:00 PM. Allies, family members, crossdressers, transsexuals and all those with varying gender identities are welcome.

The second annual CENTER LINK CENTER AWARENESS DAY is September 15, 2010. The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center will be in the process of moving to our new location and as a variation on that theme we are asking participants to help pack up our Lending Library. Pizza will be served. All of your questions about the move can be answered at this fun-filled event. Join us on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 5pm to 7pm.
